Helping your child rise to their full potential
We provide math support and enrichment for K-8 students. Is your gifted child looking for more of a challenge? Are you concerned that your child isn’t getting the differentiation that they need at school? Are you worried that they won’t be adequately prepared for middle-school math? Does your child need some extra support and confidence? We can help!
We’ll work with you to set goals appropriate for your child and tailor tutoring to their needs. We use a variety of tools to work on math skills in an engaging and age-appropriate manner, including books, games, challenge problems, and manipulatives. We can also help with homework. While we may occasionally use worksheets to help reinforce specific concepts, our goal is to make math fun and encourage a deep conceptual understanding, so your child will not just be doing more worksheets or rote memorization.
FAQ
WHICH STUDENTS ARE A GOOD FIT FOR YOUR TUTORING?
We work with middle and elementary school students and cover early math skills through algebra and geometry. We can help support students with an IEP or an ALP. Whether your student needs extra support or an extra challenge, we’ll work with you and them to meet those needs.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU MEET?
In most situations, we recommend scheduling one tutoring session per week. We’re flexible, though, and can meet more or less frequently depending on your child’s needs. Also, please note that we follow the BVSD school calendar and may be unavailable during vacation periods.
WHAT DOES EACH SESSION LOOK LIKE?
Each session is an hour long. We’ll spend 50-55 minutes working with your student, leaving time at the end for review and to answer any questions that you might have.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
We’re located in North Boulder. If you live near us, we’re happy to come to your house. Sessions can also take place at another mutually agreeable location.
CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT YOUR CURRICULUM?
We’ll work with you to set goals and will personalize our tutoring sessions to meet your child’s unique situation. Because every child is different, we don’t try to force all students into a single curriculum. That said, we are experienced with the Common Core standards and the specific BVSD math curricula, Math Expressions for elementary school students and Connected Mathematics 3 (CM3) for middle school students. We can support your student with schoolwork using these curricula, all the time working toward a deeper understanding and love of math.
HOW DO I SUPPORT MY CHILD AT HOME?
Are you looking to create a more math-rich home environment or do you need more assistance figuring out how to best support your student at home? We’re happy to work with you to come up with a plan! We will provide general guidance at the end of each tutoring session. If you feel like you need a more specific or extensive plan, we can help with that as well. Please contact us for more information.
